How to Move From Spiritual Ignorance to a Life Redefined by Jesus (Part 2)

This blog is about moving from ignorance to a life redefined by Jesus.

We are living in a culture overflowing with information yet starving for true knowledge of God. It’s not that we haven’t heard of Him, it’s that too often we’ve forgotten Him. Sadly, so many have forgotten Him. Like Israel in Jeremiah’s day, we exchange His truth for our own plans, drifting into spiritual ignorance. But God, in His mercy, doesn’t leave us there. He calls us out of empty religion and casual living into something greater: a real encounter with Him.

An encounter that redefines us.

The encounter that moves us beyond lip service.

An encounter that makes His presence undeniable.

Are you ready to move from ignorance to encounter and walk a life redefined by Jesus? Well, let’s get into it. By the grace of God, I pray that He breathes His Spirit into this teaching and grants you an understanding of Him.

Ignorance Defined (Biblically & Today)

Ignorance is more than just “not knowing.” Biblically, ignorance often means forgetting God or willfully resisting His ways. Jeremiah 18:15 says,

“My people have forgotten me; they burn incense to worthless idols.”

In Hosea 4:6, the Lord declares: “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you.”

Willful rejection of God’s truth is sinful ignorance.

  • Unintentional ignorance (not knowing yet) can be corrected when we seek God.
  • Intentional ignorance (choosing not to know or obey) hardens the heart and leads to destruction (Romans 1:18–23).

Today, we see ignorance show up as:

  • Giving God lip service while living by our own wisdom.
  • Treating His presence as optional.
  • Allowing distractions, ambition, or fear to hold our attention hostage.
  • Settling for idols success, attention, pleasure, comfort instead of Him.

Acts 17:30 reminds us: “In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now He commands all people everywhere to repent.”

The Danger of Staying in Ignorance

Staying in ignorance is not harmless, it is deadly. Scripture makes this clear:

  • “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6).
  • “For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him… their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened” (Romans 1:21).

When we remain in ignorance, we drift further from God until our hearts grow hard and unresponsive to Him. We start living on our own wisdom, blinded to the truth, and the enemy exploits our blindness.

  • Ignorance opens the door to deception. (2 Corinthians 4:4 – “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers…”)
  • Ignorance keeps us trapped in cycles of defeat, fear, and mediocrity when God has called us to walk in victory and abundance.
  • Ignorance causes us to cling to idols, false gods that cannot save (Isaiah 45:20).

The greatest danger of ignorance is this: it numbs us to our need for God. His voice grows faint, His presence becomes unfamiliar, and His truth feels optional. And when we live without His truth, we live without life.

This is why God urgently commands: “In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now He commands all people everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:30).

Ignorance tolerated today can become destruction tomorrow. But repentance opens the door to encounter.

From Ignorance to Encounter

God is calling us out of ignorance and into encounter. He’s taking us on a journey of living from His presence. There’s more to this life than defeat, fear, and failure. There is more.

When we turn from ignorance to seek Him, we encounter Him.

  • An encounter that redefines us.
  • An encounter that moves us beyond lip service.
  • An encounter that makes His presence undeniable.

The Lord is so gentle and patient. He is waiting for you to say “yes.”

But we need more than just a mental shift, we need a divine invasion. Heaven touching earth. A holy fire. A people undone by the weight of His glory until we begin to look like Christ.

God longs to reveal Himself to you. He wants you to see Him, know Him, experience Him. He wants to redefine you. But first, you must repent. Turn from ignorance. Surrender. Then you will begin to live from His presence, to abide in Him, and to carry His glory wherever you go.

Steps Toward A Life Redefined by Jesus

Ignorance blinds you to who God is and who you are in Him. But when you move from ignorance into encounter, everything changes:

  • Your mind is renewed. You begin to see through the lens of His truth (Romans 12:2).
  • Your identity is restored. You are no longer defined by failure or culture, you are redefined by Jesus as His child (2 Corinthians 5:17).
  • Your purpose is awakened. Encounter brings clarity and alignment with God’s calling.
  • Your desires are transformed. Old appetites lose power as new holy desires take root.
  • Your life bears fruit. From emptiness comes overflow, wisdom, love, and power that impact others.

To be redefined by Jesus means you are no longer clay unaware of the Potter’s hands, you are shaped, molded, and set apart for His glory.

How to Experience God for Yourself

If you want to live a life redefined by Jesus, if you want to encounter God, here’s where to begin:

1. Search My Heart (Psalm 139:23–24)

Ask God to expose what’s hindering your closeness with Him. Pride, unforgiveness, addiction, bitterness, selfishness, let Him uproot what needs to die.

“Lord, search my heart. Point out anything offensive and lead me back to You.”

2. Live Devoted (Consecrated to Jesus)

Devotion is not a feeling it’s a posture of love, loyalty, and obedience. Where is your time, energy, and heart focused? True devotion shifts everything toward Him.

Consecration means being set apart for God’s purposes. It’s the evidence of an encounter. Like Paul, who lived differently after meeting Jesus, you too are called to walk in a way that shows He has redefined you.

What Will You Do With This?

Ignorance will keep you blind, bound, and broken. But encounter will open your eyes, set you free, and redefine you. God is calling you out of ignorance and into His presence, where true life is found.

The question is, will you say yes?
