We live in a world of noise. Everyone has an opinion, a strategy, or a secret to success. Podcasts, books, and endless content promise to make us wiser, stronger, and better. But here’s the question that matters most: whose voice are you really listening to? Because the voice you listen to will either guide you home or leave you lost.
Jesus said it plainly: “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent” (John 17:3). Eternal life doesn’t start with information; it starts with intimacy. That’s why today, my heart is simple: to point you to Jesus.

Point You to Jesus
In our upcoming resource, Living From God’s Presence E-Guide, there’s a section that talks about pointing you to Jesus, and that’s exactly what I want to highlight today.
We can try to do life in our own strength. We can listen to countless podcasts, read shelves of self-help books, and gain all kinds of knowledge. Yet we can miss the most important knowledge of all, the knowledge that transforms us now and carries into eternity: to know Jesus.
As John 17:3 says,
“And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”
Knowledge vs. Knowing Christ
Knowledge in itself isn’t bad. Someone once said, “Knowledge is like underwear useful to have, but not necessary to show off!” That’s a truth I had to learn the hard way.
For years, I struggled with feeling like I wasn’t smart enough. When God began to give me understanding, I didn’t always steward it well. I fumbled. I even misused it at times. But through it all, God remained kind, merciful, and patient. He disciplined me, corrected me, and guided me. Even letting me sit in the embarrassment of my own choices so I could learn.
Over time, I realized: I don’t want to impress people with what I know. My heart is simply to point you to Jesus.
Love Builds Up, Knowledge Alone Does Not
Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 8:1–3:
“Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. The one who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know. But whoever loves God is known by God.”
Knowledge can easily produce pride, but love builds others up. And that’s what matters most: loving God and living a life of love.
Paul expressed it beautifully in Romans 1:11–12:
“I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong, that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.”
That’s my prayer, too, that we would encourage and strengthen one another in the Lord.
Guarding Against Pride
So how do we guard against pride and stay rooted in Jesus?
- Kill Pride → bow, kneel, and worship as you read the Word.
- Humble Yourself → daily choose humility over self-reliance.
- Dwell in the Secret Place → spend intentional time in God’s presence.
- Obey the Convictions of the Holy Spirit → His leading may look different than someone else’s; listen for His voice and respond in faith.
Surrender. Dwell. Abide.
The voice you listen to shape your daily choices, your words, and your thoughts. These three rhythms are the heartbeat of Life in God:
- Surrender → True surrender is a daily decision to yield your will and desires to God. It’s choosing to think, act, and love like Jesus. (For a deeper dive, check out our Surrender E-Guide.)
- Dwell → To dwell is to live richly in God’s Word and presence. Living from His presence means everything flows from His nature, not our effort. It’s carrying yourself in a way that reflects Him in your speech, thoughts, service, and daily life. (Stay tuned for our upcoming resource on this very theme.)
- Abide → To abide is to remain. Remain in Jesus even when life is difficult, when your flesh wants to act out, or when your words want to turn negative. Biblically, abiding is an intentional, faithful connection to God. (We did a 5-week series on abiding, I encourage you to check it out.)
Who Are We Turning To?

When you turn to Jesus, you’re turning to the living God Himself.
John 1:1–5 tells us:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
This is who we’re turning to:
- Yahweh → “I Am Who I Am.”
- El-Shaddai → God Almighty.
- Elohim → Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- Jehovah Jireh → The God who provides.
- Jehovah Rapha → The God who heals.
- Jehovah Nissi → The Lord our banner, our victory.
- And my favorite, Father → because we are His children, deeply loved.
The Final Word Is Jesus
Friend, this is who Jesus is, King of kings and Lord of lords. Don’t let pride or the pursuit of knowledge pull you away from Him. Rest in this truth: all you need is found in Him.
I pray you will turn to Jesus for every need, and that your life will not just be filled with knowledge, but rooted in His love, His presence, and His truth.
