Have you ever noticed that the moment God opens your eyes, the battle gets harder? Revelation doesn’t make life easier, it exposes what the enemy hoped you’d never see. And that’s exactly where dependency becomes essential.
Dependency comes with hard struggles, and we need to talk about that.
The Lord has been speaking to me in very unique ways, especially through His Word, and I am so encouraged. I pray that as I share with you, it encourages you. As I was reading Hebrews 10:32, this part gripped me:
“But recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings…” — Hebrews 10:32
What stood out was this phrase: “after you were enlightened.”
After you came into understanding… after you finally saw truth… after revelation hit your spirit, a hard struggle followed.
WHEN ENLIGHTENMENT MEETS STRUGGLE
You didn’t struggle until your eyes were opened.
Think about it:
- Maybe you realized that sex outside of marriage is not God’s will and now the struggle is saying no to what your flesh once said yes to.
- Maybe you used to lie, even little white lies, and now because the Holy Spirit has enlightened you, you wrestle with holding your tongue and telling the truth even when it’s uncomfortable.
- Maybe you’ve always been prideful and you hate asking for help, but now you understand that God created us to sharpen one another. The struggle now is releasing pride to receive help.
Think about your own list of hard struggles.

Enlightenment produces struggle because light reveals what darkness used to hide. And whenever God plants a truth in you, the enemy immediately wants to steal it.
Think about your new revelation as a seed being planted. The Lord waters it. It begins to grow. There’s joy, freshness, and excitement because learning truth is liberating (and often a hard pill to swallow.)
Consider the parable of the sower. Some seeds fall on rocky ground, others fall among thorns, and some fall on good soil. The enemy wants to steal your seed before it takes root.
And it’s in this exact space, the moment after enlightenment, the moment the seed hits the soil of your heart, that hard struggle comes. This is the time you must endure, persevere, and invite dependency to become your sustaining place.
PRACTICAL WAYS TO GUARD WHAT GOD JUST REVEALED TO YOU
Don’t just receive revelation, protect it. Here’s how you endure when the struggle rises against your enlightenment:
#1 Write it down. Do not trust your emotions or memory.
Revelation fades when it’s not recorded. Don’t trust your memory, trust the ink.
#2 Pray for strength to obey, not just understand.
Understanding truth is easy. Obeying truth is costly. Ask the Holy Spirit for the will to follow through.
#3 Identify the temptation attached to the revelation.
Every truth exposes a lie. Every revelation exposes an area of spiritual warfare. Name it. Confront it.
#4 Replace old habits immediately, don’t leave empty space.
Truth creates a void. Don’t leave that space empty; fill it with righteousness, discipline, and new rhythms.
#5 Tell someone trustworthy what God revealed (accountability).
Accountability protects the seed.

SCRIPTURES FOR THIS WEEK
Study these passages to deepen your understanding:
- Matthew 13 — The parable of the sower (seed, soil, endurance)
- Hebrews 10 — Encouragement to endure after revelation
- Psalm 119 — Holding onto truth, loving God’s Word
- James 1 — Trials, perseverance, and staying rooted in what God said
Let Scripture interpret Scripture and let the Word build resistance in you.
ENCOURAGEMENT TO SIT WITH
You may be in a hard struggle right now, not because you failed, but because you’ve been enlightened.
The enemy attacks what threatens him.
- Revelation threatens him.
- Obedience threatens him.
- Your transformation threatens him.
So don’t despise the struggle. Begin by honoring the seed God just planted. Guard it. Water it. Protect it. And depend on God, your unmovable foundation, as you endure.
The struggle doesn’t prove weakness. It proves you’ve received truth worth fighting for.
