This post is all about the Word of God.
You can’t fully know Jesus without knowing the Word of God. This post is all about understanding how the Bible and Jesus are inseparably intertwined and it’s essential for your life, purpose, and truth to be who God designed you to be.

Key Scripture:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” – Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)
Introduction
What does it mean to be called to the Word? The Word of God refers to the Holy Scriptures—what God has spoken—but it also refers to Jesus Christ Himself. The Bible is the most-read book in history, a collection of 66 books. I really love the Bible it’s filled with epic creation, battles, love, betrayal, miracles, and redemption. But beyond its stories, the Bible is the foundation of truth, applicable to every person, no matter their background.
Why Is the Bible Important?
The Bible is important because it is the primary way God speaks to us. While God continues to communicate with His people, Scripture is the foundation of everything He says. Through it, we learn:
- The character and nature of God
- His patterns and ways
- How Jesus lived and walked on this earth
- The voices in Scripture—God, prophets, disciples, and even Satan—reminding us to discern whose voice we are listening to
So, the question is are you spiritually conscious enough to hear Him?

What Is Spiritual Consciousness?
Spiritual consciousness is being aware of the spiritual realm, God’s presence and the work of the Holy Spirit more than the distractions of this world. There are so many distractions today, social media, FOMO (fear of missing out), and this idea of perfection. Which I am sure we have all felled prey to it. As Colossians 3:1-3 says, we are called to seek things above—to aspire, desire, and set our minds on God.
How to Set Your Mind on God:
- Prioritize Spiritual Disciplines – Engage in worship, prayer, and reading the Word.
- Filter Your Thoughts – Guard what enters your mind and what you dwell on.
- Serve Others Selflessly – I adopted this definition of serving from my Pastor, which is “doing for one what you wish you could do for all.”
Jesus: The Word Made Flesh
The Word is not just a book; the Word is a Person—Jesus Christ.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” – John 1:1
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth.” – John 1:14
“He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,” – Hebrew 1:3
Jesus is the exact imprint of God. If you want to know God, you must know Jesus.
The Bible and Jesus Are Intertwined
The Bible points to Jesus, and Jesus fulfills Scripture.
- Scripture interprets itself—when you trace and connect passages, truth is revealed.
- Society often wants Jesus without Scripture, but knowing Jesus requires knowing His Word.
We want the things of God without knowing, following, and living the things of God. Many struggles with reading the Bible—whether from misconceptions, cultural biases, or seeing it as a chore—but God calls all of us to His Word.
The Call to the Word
God is calling you to His Word—not just to study, but to be transformed.
This idea was impressed upon my heart because I was being led personally to His word. To study, to teach, and to be filled with His Word. Yet when I started studying and researching, I realized we are called to His Word, to Jesus, and we know Jesus through the Bible.
- Scripture reveals God’s thoughts, intentions, and faithfulness through history.
- The Bible shows the root of sin from Genesis to today.
- We still need Jesus just as much as ever.
God doesn’t deliver you from sin just so you can live apart from Him—He delivers you so you can know Him. God did not deliver the people of Israel so they could live apart from Him. No, He delivered them so they could be His people.
Just as He freed you not for independence, but for relationship with Him, He calls you into fellowship with Christ. We have a blog that can help you practically come to Jesus daily.

Deliverance Leads to Devotion
God has set you free for a purpose. Consider what He has brought you through—shame, fear, addiction, pride. True deliverance isn’t just about what God removes from your life, but who He calls you to—Himself.
Spiritual Warfare: Be Aware
Demons desire to inhabit and destroy (Mark 5). But Jesus’ power transforms even the most hopeless person. The possessed man in Mark 5 didn’t just received freedom—he wanted Jesus Himself.
- Jesus seeks the one—He crossed the sea for this man.
- No one is beyond hope. If Jesus changed him, He can change anyone.
Personally, the Lord has really been reminding me of His mercies this week in prayer and time in His presence of what He has delivered me from. What I have been set free from, what I used to do and who I used to be. Only a faithful God could have done that. Only a loving God could have done that.
A Call to Submission
God is calling you to submit to His Word. If you’re reading this, consider it a confirmation to:
- Seek Him
- Get into His Word
- Spend time in His presence
I want to encourage you to get in His Word and to know of Him. To spend time with Him. To be intimately acquainted with.
A Prayer for Transformation
If you feel the Lord drawing you, here’s a prayer to guide you:
- Repent –Ask God to forgive you for neglecting His Word and putting yourself first. Repentance is more than feeling sorry about your sin, but it’s an action that we decide to change our mind, the change of direction.
- Renounce – Declare freedom from the chains that keep you from surrendering. Renounce means to declare abandonment of every claim, belief, or practice
- Replace – Ask God to fill you with His love, righteousness, and presence.
Jesus died so you may know Him rightly. You don’t need to clean yourself up first—just come to Him. If you could clean up first you wouldn’t have needed the lamb of Jesus to be sacrificed
Invitation to Know Him
If you’re wondering how to know the Lord, the answer is in His Word—both the Bible and the Person of Jesus.
“Jesus said, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” – John 14:6
Knowing the Lord means knowing:
- His character
- His ways
- His voice
Take Him at His Word. Trust Him. Depend on Him.
