To abide in Jesus requires continued connection and engagement with Him. When you encounter the true, living, all-powerful God, you’ll begin to experience more joy, more peace, and a deeper ease in abiding with Him daily.
And when I say “encounter,” I’m not talking about a casual moment or religious habit. I’m talking about a divine, life-altering meeting with the living God.
What Do I Mean by Encounter?
I don’t want to assume we all define “encounter” the same way, so let me be clear.
I’m talking about the kind of encounter Paul had on the road to Damascus. (Acts 9:3-4)
The kind of encounter Moses had—so real, so radiant—that his face glowed. (Exodus 34:29)
The kind of encounter Elizabeth had when Mary spoke and the baby in her womb leapt for joy. (Luke 1:41)
I’m talking about the encounter my husband had the very day he planned to take his own life—when Jesus met him instead.
The encounter our child had, after battling trauma—when she met Jesus and now walks in joy, peace, and freedom.
I’m talking about the Jesus who encountered me when I knew nothing about Him—and rescued me from people pleasing, fear, weed, alcohol, and the grip of unhealthy relationships.

What Is a Biblical Encounter?
According to Bible Hub, in a biblical context, the term encounter refers to a significant meeting or experience with God, angels, or other divine manifestations.
Encounters with God are often direct, personal, powerful, and unforgettable.
They lead to transformation, revelation, and a deeper understanding of God’s purpose for your life.
Another word for encounter is “to meet face to face.”
And like Moses, I declare over you today: you will encounter Jesus.
Face-to-Face with God: The Example of Moses
Exodus 33:11 — “Thus the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend…”
Moses found favor in the sight of God. And I declare that you, too, will find favor as you seek Him.
“And the Lord said to Moses, ‘This very thing that you have spoken I will do, for you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name.’
Moses said, ‘Please show me your glory.’
And He said, ‘I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name, “The LORD.” I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.
But, He said, ‘You cannot see my face, for man shall not see Me and live.’
And the Lord said, ‘Behold, there is a place by Me where you shall stand on the rock, and while My glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with My hand until I have passed by. Then I will take away My hand, and you shall see My back, but My face shall not be seen.’”
— Exodus 33:17–23
That passage always gives me chills.
Moses was bold enough to ask: “Show me Your glory.”
Will you be bold enough to ask God the same?
Will you posture your heart to see His glory?
There were requirements Moses had to follow to experience the glory of God. And he followed them—read more in Exodus 34.
Pray “Come, Holy Spirit.”

If you’re hungry for an encounter, begin with a simple but powerful prayer:
“Come, Holy Spirit.”
Say it with a real expectation that He will come.
Because when you say “Come, Holy Spirit,” you’re asking for an increased awareness of God’s presence. You’re creating room for Him to meet you, fill you, and transform you.
And here’s the truth:
You need the presence of God in your life more than you need anything else.
Do you want more of God than you want the world?
That kind of hunger leads to encounter.
Signs You’re on the Path to Encounter
It starts with hunger.
A hunger for truth.
A stirring of zeal.
A shift in appetite that only the Holy Spirit can produce.
You begin to taste His goodness.
His mercy becomes undeniable.
And then, everything changes.
And then it hits you:
Because the Light is better.
Because life is found in Him.
Now you live with purpose, meaning, freedom, authority, and victory.
Life in God is far greater than anything this world could ever offer.
But you must encounter Him for yourself to truly know that.
Here’s how to start:
Here are four practical ways to begin:
1. Worship – Set the atmosphere. Worship draws God near.
2. The Word – Soak in Scripture. Let it renew your mind and anchor your soul.
3. Prayer – Invite the Holy Spirit to commune with you and speak truth.
4. Resources – Read books and listen to teachings that stir your hunger.
I personally began to encounter Him firsthand through these moments—where I smelled the aroma of His presence, was filled with the Spirit, and even spoke in tongues for the first time.
God is real. His presence is all-consuming.

Worship Is the Response
May you obey the promptings of the Lord.
May the God of heaven know you by name and reveal His glory to you.
When Moses saw the glory of God, his response was simple: worship.
And when you come to know who God is and experience His love, worship becomes the most natural response. It won’t be something you do—it will be who you are.
May your life become a living representation of what it means to have a supernatural encounter with the Living God.
