You Have Access
When God created human beings, He declared them very good. God created us in His image and likeness, called us blessed, and gave us dominion over the earth. God’s original intent was for us to reflect Him perfectly in character, in authority, and in relationship with Him.
But then the fall came.
The serpent deceived and convinced Eve to rebel against God, and in that moment, everything changed. Sin immediately separated us from God. Our souls became disconnected from our source, and the consequence was death. Human beings became full of darkness, wandering far from the life God designed for us, with closed minds and hardened hearts. That is the evidence of sin at work.
Recently, our family came up with a working definition of sin that I want to share: sin is any thought, word, or action that goes against God and His commands; falling short of, or missing the mark, of His standard. Left to our own nature, we naturally pursue sin and rebel against the very God who made us. But God is so loving, so kind and merciful, that He refused to leave us there.
Because He loves us so deeply, He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for our sins. Jesus came to save us from sin, to put us in right standing with God, to give us access to the Father, to give us an abundant life, freeing us from God’s wrath, from condemnation, from the power of this world, the power of the flesh, and the power of the devil. Everything Jesus came to do was to get us back to God’s original intent.
Read Romans 8:1–11, because it captures the essence of the fall and what life in the Spirit looks like.
Today, I want to talk about access.
Because you have given your life to Jesus and are born again, you now have access to God.
God is the supreme being, Creator of this world, Perfect in power, perfect in wisdom, perfect in goodness, and you have access to Him. You have access to perfect love, perfect wisdom, and a perfect Father.
Ephesians 2:18 says it plainly: “For through Him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.”
Through Jesus by the Holy Spirit, to the Father. We see the Holy Trinity at work, and all of it is designed to bring you home to God.
And when you have access to something, you have permission and admission. You have a direct line of communication with God the Father, not through a middleman, not on a waitlist, not dependent on how good you’ve been this week, but direct access.
That means you have access to unlimited resources. You have access to God’s authority, to the One for whom nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37).
So, my friend, you don’t have to worry about how you’ll provide for yourself or your family because you have access to the Provider.
You don’t have to be anxious about what you’ll eat, what you’ll wear, or what tomorrow holds because God already knows your needs before you speak them.
This is not positive thinking or some motivational mantra. This is the reality of what Jesus purchased for you on the cross that you have access to today. You don’t have to wait to experience this access; you can experience the treasures of this life now.
The Challenge
This week, I want you to practice using your access.
When you need an answer, don’t make Google your first stop, go to God. When worry starts creeping in, bring your concerns to the Father instead of letting them spiral. And when life feels overwhelming, take a moment to pray before reaching for the phone. This is not because people don’t matter, but because you have direct access to the One who has every answer, every resource, and every solution you need.
You were not designed to figure this life out on your own. You were designed for connection with God. The access is already yours. The question is whether you’ll use it.
What’s one area of your life where you’ve been trying to handle things on your own instead of going to God first? Drop it in the comments, let’s pray together.
